Wow Michael Phelps... you suck.
* I love that we see him lose one race, and he's suddenly a swimming pariah. It must be that sleek swimsuit... how else could we explain a LOSS from the 8 TIME GOLD MEDALIST? A bad day in the pool... not allowed. That sweet-onion-teriyaki must be packing on the flab and slowing him down. Good lord. Can't a guy catch a break?

Chechokohs? Sourdoughs? What the fuck is she talking about?
* Did you watch the goodbye speech of Sarah Palin? I can not get over how unintelligible she is. The entire time I'm watching it, I'm imagining what Tina Fey would do with this debacle of a resignation speech. What's a "chechokoh" and what does it have to do with sour bread? The "frozen road" soaring over "nature's show" of "frigid fog" and soaring through the "midnight sun". WTF?
Ugh, I'm so done with her. I can only hope she fades into that midnight sun and spends the rest of her years rocking quietly in her porch chair as she waves across the strait at Putin.
UPDATE: Evidently Chechahco, more commonly spelled cheechako, is a Chinook Jargon word for "newcomer" and Sourdough was an experienced Klondike miner. Who knew. Nonetheless, her berating of "tiny, very talented, Hollywood starlets" was a bit ridiculous. Let's face it, Ashley Judd isn't "very" talented.

Random tidbits
* Joe Montana's son is leaving the University of Notre Dame to attend Pasadena City College. He wants to get more playing time and assures us that this is not an "academic issue". Indeed, because the PCC Lancers are a powerhouse.
* Rachel Maddow had a funny clip about the Texas governor and others against the president's health care reform push. While watching it, I laughed at her comment that describes my own understanding of the bill: "rollicking substance-free festival of incoherence". That's about how I'd describe myself on this issue.
* Let it be known that two kid parties on one day, replete with inflatables and jumpers galore, is not enough to tire out the Magpie. As for Mom and Dad, however, exhaustion on a new level.
