Honk You!

* I'm in the drive-thru line at Starbucks this morning, and there are two cars in front of me, and about four behind me.  It was taking a bit too long for the cars in front to get their drinks and treats, but that's bound to happen when there is but one drive thru in the local area.  Some dumb ass behind me honks: BEEP!  I'm like, "WTF?! We're honking? In the drive thru?"  

BEEP!  BEEP-BEEP!   Again.

Seriously?  Just where exactly does this yahoo think we're going to go?  At nearly $4 a cup, I'm certainly  not abandoning my latte to speed you through the line.  And as I have no control over the slowness of said barista-trainee, you can take your European model car horn and stick it where the sun don't shine.  

Someone that uptight needs to mainline their espresso shots at home.

Words of Challenge from the Magpie

* MP: "You never get me cheese pizza!  You don't listen to me! You are so mean! I'm going to leave the house again and be a homeless kid.  I'm going to live at the track!"

ME: "At the track?  Santa Anita or Hollywood Park?  What, are you going to live on eating flamingoes?"

MP: "No!  Not THAT track... the exercise track by Starbucks and I'll eat at Wendy's"

* MP: "MOM!  I HAVE to go to VANS."

ME: "Why buddy?  We're not really near a VANS store" 

MP: "But Mom, I HAVE to look at a new board; they're 50 dollars, and I've got 50 dollars!"

ME: "You already have a board, kiddo."

MP: "But not a REAL board Mom, it's just a Target board."

ME: "Oh, well- Escusez moi mon petite-  I didn't know we had to have a 'real' board."

MP: "Yeah, well, you don't know about skaters, and I do.  I can ollie! Now take me to VANS!"

Boldy Going Where No Movie has Before

Star Trek was AWESOME!  Best movie I've seen in the theaters in a long time.  Action, Comedy, great portrayals of beloved old-school characters.  Awesome.  Karl Urban's "Bones" was great.  And Chris Pine?  Love him!  Did you know he was the prince in Princess Diaries II?  I had no clue.  But he was great as Kirk.  Best part?  Not once did I think to myself, "hey! There's Sylar!"  Quinto was a fantastic young Spock!  Way to go J.J.Abrams!   (Oh... and the hilarity of Scotty yelling at that "cute" little Ewocky alien??  I kept thinking of Hurley saying, "Everybody knows that Ewoks suck."  Ha ha ha ha! )
